Dental Implants: What to Expect From Start to Finish

Replacing a missing tooth is one of the most common reasons patients visit our Valencia office. Dental implants have become the preferred option because they restore both the look and the function of a natural tooth. Here is what the journey usually looks like.

Your consultation and 3D scan

Every implant plan starts with a conversation and a detailed look at your jaw. We use cone-beam 3D imaging to see bone volume, nerve position, and sinus anatomy so the plan is built around your anatomy rather than an average.

This visit is also when we review your health history, current medications, and goals for your smile.

Placing the implant

The implant post is placed into the jawbone during a focused appointment. Most patients are surprised by how straightforward the visit feels, and sedation options are available if you would prefer to be more relaxed.

Healing and your final tooth

Over the following months the implant integrates with the bone, creating a stable foundation. Once healing is complete, we attach the abutment and a custom crown shaped and shaded to blend with your neighboring teeth.

  • Keep the area clean with gentle brushing and rinsing
  • Stick to softer foods in the first days after placement
  • Attend your short follow-up checks so we can monitor healing

Caring for your implant long term

An implant does not decay, but the gum and bone around it still need care. Brushing, flossing, and regular cleanings are what keep an implant healthy for the long run.
